THE ROYAL MONCEAU IN THE HEART OF PARIS

37 Avenue Hoche, Paris 75008

One of our favourite hotels in Paris is the Royal Monceau located about a 5 minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe, and for seventy years it has been catering to international clients in a relaxed and professional style that befits its high reputation. The declaration for the creation of Israel was signed there in 1948, and numerous celebrities and dignitaries have used it as their Parisian base since. Although it is not in their official press handouts, Madonna filmed one of her raunchiest videos there, no doubt also attracted by the elegant boutiques of the Avenue Montaigne or the Fauborg St.Honore.

Two world quality restaurants are located there. "Le Jardin" under chef Bruno Cirino has recently launched a new menu and serves high quality French cuisine that can loosely be described as sunny and vivacious . "Il Carpaccio" headed by Angelo Paracucchi is now accepted by the French food critics as one of the best Italian restaurants in Paris. There is a third one and that is situated next to the superb health spa "Les Thermes" which again is a favourite haunt of Parisians in the know and visiting celebrities.

The 220 room hotel has announced a series of packages to make it affordable for a traditional Paris two night stay that includes an American breakfast along with flowers and champagne on arrival for 1900ff a night for a single room and 2200ff for a double. This includes complimentary membership to the health spa along with all service charges and taxes. We also like the fact that they allow a late check out time of 4 p.m. allowing for an almost extra full day of sightseeing without having to worry about that awful noon check out time. This rate is valid right up to December 26 when their millennium rates apply. The summer interlude that runs up until September 5 has a gift package to replace the breakfast and champagne at comparable rates with an even later check out time of 5 p.m.

The millennium package is a minimum of a five night stay starting on December 27 with rates starting at 2750ff per night and suites starting at 4200ff a night. There is a choice of three gala nights with a Gala dinner in the roaring twenties style at 4400ff per person or a Russian night with unlimited vodka and caviar, dinner and dancing at 4800ff per person. If you prefer an Italian style evening then the Venetian ball is priced at 3500 per person. The brunch on New Years day is 550ff per person and the first dinner of the Millenium offers a gourmet feast at 1200ff per person with a meal created by the outstanding Bruno Cirino and his team.
